Episode 133: The Website Capability Model

In this episode Chris Risner and Haishi Bai are joined by Tejaswi Redkar, a Director of Business Programs with Windows Azure. Tejaswi walks through the Website Capability Model which helps developers and IT Pros assess how best to move web applications into the cloud. The Model shows what all of the options are for staying on premise as well as moving into the cloud and enables you to figure out what changes you would need to make and what capabilities there are. They also review how this model was used to move a sample website into Windows Azure. As part of porting the website, they also make use of ElasticSearch, first running locally and then moving it into Windows Azure. Finally, Service Bus' PortBridge feature is used to connect the website running in Windows Azure back to assets running in a local datacenter.
