Apache Hadoop Definition
Hadoop ist ein in Java geschriebenes Framework für verteilte Daten. Mit dem Hadoop-Framework können in einfacher Weise extrem große Datenmengen wie sie beispielsweise in Big Data-Anwendungen vorkommen, zuverlässig und vergleichsweise kostengünstig verarbeitet werden. Die Open-Source-Variante Hadoop hat sich hier als Quasi-Standard etabliert. Mittlerweile sind jedoch auch Enterprise-Distributionen auf dem Markt: Microsoft HDInsight, Amazon Elastic MapReduce (EMR), Cloudera, Hortonworks, IBM mit InfoSphere BigInsights und Pivotal HD.
